A football player who played in the Azerbaijan national team has submitted his candidacy for the presidency of the FNL

Former striker of the Azerbaijan national team Shamil Lakhiyalov nominated for the presidency of the Russian National Football League (FNL).

Referring to the "Championat" publication, Qazet.az reports that the veteran forward collected 13 votes in the elections. This was not enough for him to become the president of the FNL.

Nail Izmayilov, Lakhiyalov's only rival, was elected to the said position with 53 votes.

It should be noted that in 1998-1999, Shamil Lakhiyalov played in the Azerbaijan national team and in the "Shafa" club under the name Rashid.
