Ambassador of Turkey: "Some issues should be considered to increase trade"
Within the framework of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), some issues should be considered to increase cargo transportation and trade.
Qazet.az reports that Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagchi said this at the forum on "Opportunities on the Horizon: Green Light for Women Entrepreneurs" held in Baku.
"Last year, there were problems in the Suez Canal, and everyone saw its impact on the world economy. Now, due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, the role of the Middle Corridor has increased. The opportunity has passed from Europe to Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan. There are always topics to discuss. If customs clearance tariffs and waiting periods are not reviewed, the obstacles to trade will not be removed," he said.
"The desire of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey is to increase the value of the annual trade turnover between the two countries to 15 billion US dollars. Today, this indicator is 5 billion US dollars. We went from $3.6 billion to $5 billion. We have achieved this in the last 4 years", the ambassador added.
