AFSA chairman appeals to entrepreneurs who do not follow phytosanitary rules

Tahmazli said that 360,000 tons of products are expected to be transported by the end of the year

Sometimes entrepreneurs do not strictly follow the phytosanitary rules of the products they want to export abroad. In some cases, other products that have not been tested for the virus are found among their products, said the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AFSA) Goshgar Tahmazli.

According to Qazet.az, the AFSA chairman appealed to entrepreneurs wishing to export products abroad: "Businessmen can apply to the Agency if they want to ship agricultural products to other countries. We will provide them with the necessary assistance. They can be sure that they will not face any obstacles in this area."

Tahmazli said that 360,000 tons of products are expected to be transported by the end of the year: "About 120,000 tons of tomatoes have already been exported. As a result of phytosanitary control measures, a significant increase was observed in the export of several phytosanitary products from Azerbaijan to Russia. Thus, compared to the same period last year, date exports to this country increased by 46%, potatoes by 23%, cucumbers and gherkins by 35%, peaches and nectarine by 182%, watermelon by 144%, fresh grapes by 178%, plums and blueberries by 33%, pomegranates by 17%, strawberries by 117% and pears by 192%. Also, 119,000 tons of tomatoes and 52,000 tons of apples were exported to Russia under the restrictions imposed by the relevant Russian agency."
