"We are proud of this deep-rooted institution inherited from our ancestors, and we have prepared the documents together with Azerbaijan and Iran and submitted them to UNESCO," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the event '2021 UNESCO Year of Ahi Evran- Meeting with entrepreneurs in the footsteps of Ahi Evran.'

He noted that the documents on Ahi Evran were prepared together with Azerbaijan and Iran and submitted to UNESCO. Thus, 2021 has been declared the "Year of Ahi Evran" in Turkey.

It should be noted that Ahi Evran, regarded as the sage of tanners and leader of 32 craft and trade types, is a Turkish philosopher who founded "Ahi-order." Ahi Evran, Pir Ahi Evran Veli or full name Pir Mahmud bin Ahmad Nasreddin Ahi Evran bin Abbas Veli was born in 1171 in Hoy, West Azerbaijan Province of Iran. He died in 1251.

Ahi Evran made a long journey from Khorasan to Anatolia. Ahi Evran spent his childhood and studied in Azerbaijan. After that, he came to Khorasan and Ichichayara (Mesopotamia) and learned from great masters there.
