Turkish MP says UN Security Council's permanent members must be changed

"There are double standards in the implementation of UN resolutions. In fact, the opinion of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council is important, not the majority. This system must change quickly," Mustafa Destici, chairman of the Turkish Grand Unity Party, told Qazet.az.

According to him, there are serious problems in the implementation of decisions:

"The basic principles reflected in the UN Charter and universally accepted are dictated by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, Russia, France, China, and the United Kingdom. There were decisions concerning Azerbaijan that demanded the unconditional and unquestioning withdrawal of Armenians from the occupied Azerbaijani lands. However, these resolutions were not carried out. There is also a situation in the implementation of decisions on Israel. We can extend this list. Unfortunately, nothing happens that these five countries do not want. This system needs to be changed as soon as possible. Although the UN is a society founded by the victorious countries after the Second World War, that period is long gone, and 193 states are members of this international organization. I think that the permanent members of the UN should change seasonally, or the number of these nations should be increased to cover all countries of the world."
