Qazet.az reports that these words were said by MP Ganira Pashayeva during her speech at the plenary session of the Parliament held on December 20.

"Recently, gender selection is increasing in Azerbaijan. Although certain changes have been made in the legislation in this area, it is still growing," said the deputy.

He noted that this increase is even higher than biological norms:

"If the growth trend continues, it is a serious threat for the future. In this regard, important steps should be taken to prevent the current indicator.

"Among the women who apply to us, there are quite a few who are subjected to violence because they do not have children. This creates a serious problem for women in the family. Artificial insemination operations should be included in the envelope of compulsory health insurance services. Because infertility causes serious family problems. I am in favor of increasing the number of shelters and aid centers in the regions," the deputy added.
