"The high volume of the economic trade between the two countries and the number of joint projects can be considered a good indicator. Despite the fact that the world economy and trade are still under the influence of the coronavirus pandemic, in 2021, trade relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan increased by more than 30% compared to 2020," Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said in his article about 30-years friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, Qazet.az reports.

According to him, trade relations have reached the highest level in the last two decades, with a relative increase compared to the period before the coronavirus pandemic.

“Along with an increase in Azerbaijan’s import from Iran, Azerbaijan’s export to Iran also significantly increased and Iran involved 11% of the non-oil export of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is constant attention of Iran to its neighbors in its policy and foreign trade. Hope that the signing of Preferential Trade Agreement between two countries in near future and by holding the next 15th meeting of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in the current solar year, economic and trade relations between the two countries which have 765 km total border, will further develop in accordance with high level political ties between the two countries,” the diplomat noted.
