Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will build fiber-optic lines along the bottom of the Caspian Sea
"The laying of fiber-optic lines along the bottom of the Caspian Sea along the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan route will begin in 2023."
Qazet.az report with reference to the Kazakh press that this was said by the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Bagdat Musin.
This project will provide the countries of the region with alternative Internet access, as well as expand the transit of traffic between Europe and Asia.
"Kazakhtelecom" will act as a partner of the project on the Kazakh side, and "AzerTelecom" on the Azerbaijani side.
Approximately, the main route of the 340-kilometer fiber-optic line will start from the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan and will extend to the Siyazan region of Azerbaijan. The reserve line, which is approximately 330 kilometers long, will be built from the Kuryk sea port of Kazakhstan to the Buzovna settlement of Baku.
The minister emphasized that the countries of Central Asia are interested in the implementation of the project, because the availability of alternative routes plays a major role in ensuring guaranteed access to the Internet for residents.
