Azerbaijan firmly rejected the attempts to send a civilian mission of the European Union to its territory on the border with Armenia.
According to Qazet.az reports, President Ilham Aliyev said this during his speech at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Astana on October 14.
"On October 6, within the framework of the new platform of the "European political union", a quadrilateral meeting was organized in Prague with the participation of the President of France, the President of the Council of the European Union, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan. a decision was made to send a civilian mission of the European Union consisting of 40 people to its territory. Later it became known to us that their number will be 50 people. They will be there for at least 2 months. The purpose of this mission, as we can see, is to help the parties in drawing borders and defining issues related to delimitation This is why we agreed to it. There were also attempts to send this mission to the Azerbaijani side, but these attempts were firmly rejected by us. Therefore, the mission will be located on the territory of Armenia, in the area of responsibility of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Yesterday The first group of European representatives went to Armenia to determine the placement of this mission," the head of state said.
