Azerbaijani ambassador visits German land of North Rhine-Westphalia

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany Nasimi Aghayev visited North Rhine-Westphalia, the federal state with the largest population (18 million people) and ranked first among Germany's regions in terms of GDP ($733 billion), the Azerbaijani Embassy told 9reports.

The purpose of the visit was to inform high-ranking representatives of the region about Azerbaijan's economy and investment opportunities available in Azerbaijan, as well as to encourage companies operating in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia to invest in Azerbaijan.

During the visit, Ambassador Aghayev met with the Chairman of the Landtag (Parliament) of the region Andre Cooper, Mayor of Dusseldorf, the capital of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Stefan Keller, the leadership of UNIPER, one of the key energy companies in Germany, representatives of the Dusseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other institutions, as well as with some activists of the Azerbaijani community living in Dusseldorf and nearby cities.

The German officials were informed about the favorable business climate in Azerbaijan, and the prospects for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, transport and logistics. It was proposed to realize the visit of the economic delegation from Azerbaijan to North Rhine-Westphalia in the near future.
