Grandmaster Rauf Mammadov refused to play in FIDE

Azerbaijani chess player Rauf Mammadov has refused to participate in competitions under FIDE flag, Qazet.az reports.

Chess grandmaster has taken the step due to the occurrences in Ukraine.

Mammadov protested against the FIDE leadership's position on the events on his Facebook page.

He said: “I promise that I won't play in FIDE tournaments during the war because the FIDE President is a pro-Russian man. Love and support to Ukraine! ”
