Azerbaijani court jails drug trafficker for 15 years
An inspection in his rented house in the Khatai district led to the discovery of an additional 24.88 kg of heroin, 1.87 kg of opium, 3.2 kg of methamphetamine, and 1 electronic scale
The trial of Elmaddin Azizov, born in 1982, accused of selling drugs and psychotropic substances, has ended at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, judge Ahmad Guliyev read out the verdict, Qazet.az informs.
The court sentenced Elmaddin Azizov to 15 years in prison.
He was detained during search operations conducted by officers of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Interior Ministry. During a personal search, 11,930 grams of drugs were found and confiscated.

The investigation revealed that Azizov received a large amount of drugs and psychotropic substances smuggled into Azerbaijan on behalf of an Iranian citizen, whose name is not yet known to the investigation, and hid them in a semi-detached house in the village of Chakhirli. He then brought the drugs to the capital and kept them in his rented house. He had to return some of the money after selling the drugs to people whom the Iranian citizen was to say.
