"Regarding the renewable energy potential of Azerbaijan, the amount of wind and solar energy on land is more than 24 gigawatts."
Qazet.az report that President Ilham Aliyev expressed this opinion in his speech at the plenary meeting held on December 17 in Bucharest in connection with the signing ceremony of the "Agreement on strategic partnership in the field of development and transmission of green energy between the Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary".
Emphasizing that wind energy in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is 157 gigawatts, the head of state said: "We plan to produce 3 gigawatts of wind and 1 gigawatt of solar energy by 2027 with one of our country's strategic investors. 80 percent of it will be exported. "By 2037, we plan to create at least 6 gigawatts of additional power."
