Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan has commented on a distorted post of the Russian Foreign Ministry on social media on the Treaty of Turkmenchay, Qazet.az reports citing Press service of the MFA.
It has been stressed in the commentary that releasing distorted information on the Treaty of Turkmenchay has caused surprise and regret: "Release of distorted information on official social media account of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Treaty of Turkmenchay signed in 1828 on the day when Declaration on allied interaction between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation was signed, has caused surprise and regret.
We would like to stress that word "Eastern Armenia" is not generally cited in the mentioned treaty, and certainly, the fact should be absolutely clear for the Historical Documents Department of Russian MFA.
We consider removing the distortion important and expect that relevant amendment will be made on the false information on official social media account of Russian MFA," noted.
