Deputy FM: Armenia impeded sending of UNESCO mission to Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan repeatedly invited the UNESCO technical mission to the liberated territories, but Armenia hindered this, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammad-Guliyev said, Qazet.az informs.
He was speaking at the International Conference on “The Role of UNESCO Conventions Concerning the Protection of Cultural Properties and Aspects of Improving Their Implementation” jointly organized by the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, the ICOMOS Azerbaijan National Committee and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (IDD) of the ADA University.
The deputy minister reminded that at the beginning of this year, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) sent a technical mission to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
He noted that the Azerbaijani side supports sending a UNESCO technical mission to assess the destruction of cultural and historical monuments in the liberated territories. “We want Armenia not to impede this process,” he added.
