DPR reveals how many people were evacuated from Mariupol during past day

The authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have evacuated 425 civilians from Mariupol over the past day, including 95 children, the DPR territorial defense headquarters reported.

Qazet.az reports that "From 8:00 March 17 to 8:00 March 18, a total of 425 people, including 95 children, were evacuated from Mariupol to Bezymyannoye," the statement said.

The civilians of Mariupol were evacuated along the humanitarian corridor, which was organized by the Russian military and the DPR forces starting on March 5. In total, 2,039 people have been evacuated along this corridor from the combat zone in Mariupol to DPR territory.

The humanitarian situation in the city is in dire straits. Water, electricity, gas and food supplies have been disrupted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24 launched a special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the leaders of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories. Its sole aim, Putin emphasized, is to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
