Farid Gayibov: Sportsmen want the next festival to be held in Karabakh
"The majority of athletes want the next festival to take place in Karabakh".
According to "Qazet.az reports, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said this in his statement to journalists after the opening ceremony of the "Sports Festival 2022" held in Shaki.
He said that the ministry has a working group and they will think about it: "Yesterday, we had a meeting with our athletes. In the evening, we talked together. We learned their opinions. Everyone is waiting for the next festivals. If not next year, then we will plan to hold such a festival in Karabakh in the coming years. There are several reasons for this. We have organized a triathlon competition in Agali. Our citizens have settled there. A really good sports event was held. We want to have more such events in the future."
According to F. Qayibov, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, on the instructions of the head of the country, implements various projects aimed at increasing the mass of sports and the professional level of athletes: "One of them is the sports festival among teenagers today in the city of Sheki. Here, athletes of more than 20 types and their coaches have gathered. The event takes place in the Sheki Olympic Complex and in the city. They have come here from the surrounding regions for this festival. We are promoting sports."
The minister said that the festival will cover other age groups as well: "Sport is health and not only for young people, but for everyone. We have various projects and events that include everyone."
