Qazet.az reports that the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen said this during her speech at the commissioning ceremony of the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector (IGB) in Sofia.

He said that today, with the launch of the gas pipeline, a new era begins for Bulgaria and South-Eastern Europe.

According to him, Bulgaria used to buy 80% of its natural gas from Russia, but that was before Russia started a war in Ukraine and declared an "energy war against Europe".
