Heathrow Airport records 5.9 million passengers in December

London's Heathrow Airport on Wednesday said its December traffic was boosted by transatlantic travel as it welcomed 5.9 million passengers during the month, a 90% on-year increase, Qazet.az reports according to Market Watch.

The airport--jointly owned by the Qatar Investment Authority, China Investment Corp., Spain's Ferrovial SA and other investment companies--said passenger numbers reached 61.6 million in total in 2022. This is 42.2 million more than in 2021 and 76% of 2019 levels, it said.

"2022 ended on a high with our busiest Christmas in three years and a smooth and efficient service for passengers," said Chief Executive John Holland-Kaye.
