Heydar Aliyev's assistant: "I remember him as a brave and determined person"
Vladimir Ukhov, who was Heydar Aliyev's assistant during his tenure as the First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers in Moscow, spoke about the courage and determination of the national leader.
The Russian bureau of Qazet.az reports that V. Ukhov shared his memories of 5 years of working with Heydar Aliyev.
"I worked with Heydar Aliyev for about 5 years. He himself called it the "Kremlin five-year period". At that time, I had the opportunity to meet him every day and follow his instructions. I remember him as a brave and determined person. This was manifested in solving both big and serious and small issues. This was a feature of his personality, for him there was no concept of a secondary issue," he said.
V. Ukhov shared his memories of how Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev behaved during the tragic days of the "Admiral Nakhimov" steamship accident.
According to him, despite being in a high position, Heydar Aliyev lives in an ordinary hotel, eats with everyone, and spends all his energy helping the victims of the incident, the families of the dead and missing: "He lost weight and was a little dark. To the pain of people who are waiting for news about their loved ones. it was obvious that he was an accomplice. I was with him for almost 3 weeks, because I am a sailor myself. How he worked all these days to provide food and housing for people who came to Novorossiysk to help those who were rescued, as well as to search for their relatives, and how he felt sorry for them and I had the chance to see that he was supportive. I think this accident left a lasting mark on his heart."
