Iraqi parliament postpones presidential election due to lack of quorum

The Iraqi Council of Representatives (Parliament) of the new convocation has failed to elect the president of the republic and postponed the meeting for an indefinite time, Qazet.az informs referring to TASS.

Legislators were supposed to vote on their nominees for the post of head of state, but the leading blocs said last week that they would boycott the meeting. As a result, the MPs failed to gain the necessary two-thirds of the votes - no more than 58 out of 329 parliamentarians were present in the hall.
