Italy has closed its ports to migrants

In Italy, the right-wing coalition government has decided to restrict the approach of a ship belonging to a non-governmental organization (NGO) that rescues illegal migrants in the Mediterranean Sea to Italian ports.

Accordingly, it was decided to stop the German-flagged ship "Humanity 1", which rescued about 180 migrants, anchored in the sea outside the port of Catania.

Qazet.az reports about this. Migrants who must remain on board as a result of screening will be returned to international waters before disembarkation.

Italy had previously issued a note for the German-flagged rescue ship to be accepted by Germany. The German government, in turn, responded with a note to Italy for urgent and rapid assistance to migrants in need of medical assistance.
