Jeyhun Bayramov received the representative of the European Commission
Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation led by Lawrence Meredith, Director of Eastern Neighborhood and Institutional Building, at the General Directorate of Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission.
Qazet.az reports was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, various fields, especially economic, energy, investment, transport, etc., were discussed between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU). There was an exchange of views on the current cooperation agenda in the fields, as well as the regional situation.
J. Bayramov spoke about energy security, which is one of the main directions of cooperation with the EU, and emphasized the importance of signing the Memorandum of Understanding between Azerbaijan and the EU on July 18, 2022 in this direction, in addition to increasing gas exports to the EU, as well as for the development of alternative energy sources.
As a result of our activities in the direction of increasing efforts in the field of transport corridors, it was stated that the increase in the volume of cargo passing through Azerbaijan is a positive thing. It was said that Azerbaijan, as one of the countries that pays attention to the promotion of investments, promotes investment in "know-how" activities. It was noted with satisfaction that the EU showed interest in making investments in the restoration and construction works carried out in the territories freed from occupation.
J. Bayramov also informed the other side in detail about the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories, the provocations of Armenia that threaten the work done, as well as the threat of landmines. In this regard, it was pointed out that Armenia's failure to fulfill its obligations arising from the Tripartite Statement dated November 10, 2020 is the main threat to peace, security and development in the region.
