Qazet.az reports with reference to Kazakhstan mass media that Dauren Karabayev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of "KazMunayGaz" for economy and finance, said this.
According to him, negotiations are currently being successfully continued: "At the same time, a 5-year contract was signed between "KazMunayGaz" and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on the transportation of 1.5 million tons of oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
We expect volumes to increase in the future. Because not only us, Azerbaijan is also interested in this."
Earlier, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov stated that exports in this direction are expected to reach 6-6.5 million tons.
"A special road map has been developed for the diversification of oil exports. In particular, it is from the port of Aktau to the port of Baku, and from there in the direction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. In addition, there are railway routes from Atyrau to Batumi and Uzbekistan. There is also a route to China. Currently, work is being done on expanding and increasing the oil export potential in all these directions.In particular, we currently have an agreement to transport 1.5 million tons of oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline from January 1, and 6-6 of this volume Work is underway to deliver 5 million tons," said the minister.
