Kazakhstan plans to impose a full ban on export of live cattle on December 25, said Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karashukeyev, Qazet.az reports citing AKIPress.
Earlier, the Ministry imposed a 6-month ban on the export of cattle and small ruminants.
Kazakhstan has seen a sharp increase in the export of live cattle to neighboring countries. Due to 5-6-fold growth in exports, the price for meat has increased, he said.
Therefore, the interdepartmental commission decided to temporarily ban exports in order to prevent price hike for socially vital foodstuffs, he said.
