In January-October of this year, 5,356 million tons of cargo were handled in Baku Port, which is 14% more than in the same period last year.
Qazet.az reports that Elmar Habibli, press secretary of "Baku International Sea Trade Port" CJSC, said this.
"In particular, during 10 months, approximately 44,000 containers (28% more than a year), 41,894 wheeled vehicles (31.5% more), 33,180 wagons (32% more) passed through the port. The number of passenger cars increased by 6 times. "More than 90% of cargoes are transit cargoes. These cargoes come mainly from China, and partly from Central Asian countries, and are sent to various European countries," he said.
"Baku Port is being expanded and its annual cargo handling capacity is expected to be increased from 15 million tons to 25 million tons," the port official recalled.
