Meta ignores posts calling for violence and murders in regard to Russians, says Lavrov

Meta corporation (outlawed in Russia as an extremist organization) keeps ignoring calls for the violence against the Russian people upon the consent from the West, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday, Qazet.az reports.

"Recognized as an extremist Meta corporation keeps intentionally ignoring calls posted on its platforms urging for violence and murders of the citizens of Russia," the minister said. "We see here no democracy, liberalism and pluralism."

"On the contrary, we see the censorship and arbitrariness on the rise. I believe it to be a part of the West’s sanctioned and inflated xenophobic ‘culture of cancellation’ of everything related to Russia," Russia’s top diplomat added.

On March 21, Moscow’s Tverskoy Court satisfied the Prosecutor General of Russia’s request and found the activity of Instagram and Facebook, social networks owned by the US-Silicon Valley based company Meta, extremist and banned their operation in Russia. Despite that, citizens and organizations will not be charged for extremism for using Facebook or Instagram
