Minister of Finance: Subsidies to the agricultural sector will be increased
Next year, subsidies to agriculture in Azerbaijan will be more than this year.

Qazet.az reports that this was stated by Finance Minister Samir Sharifov at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis's Legal Policy and State Building, Defense, Security and Fight Against Corruption, Human Rights, International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations Committees.

"Will subsidies to the agricultural sector be increased? Because food security is an important point and criterion. We want to reduce our country's dependence on food imports. The president has also signed a decree on food security. Although we cannot completely reduce dependence, it can be reduced to a large extent," he said.

The minister also commented on the gradual reduction of subsidies to the regions from the budget and said that this is related to the central financing of a number of local enterprises.
