The government of Azerbaijan is interested in the citizens of the country getting a good pension.

Qazet.az reports that this was stated by Finance Minister Samir Sharifov at the meeting of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis.

"Artificially increasing or decreasing the retirement age can cause big problems. We have positive life expectancy dynamics and the financial position of the pension fund is good. We're also interested in making sure people have good money when they retire. Previously, a person who had worked for 12 years was entitled to a 25% pension. Today, to get a normal pension, you have to work for 35 years, and you also have to transfer money to the pension fund while working. I suggest that we organize a seminar on this issue and discuss it with the deputies. This is a serious matter. Pension fund expenses will be indexed by more than 15% next year," he said.
