More than 65 million passengers are expected to be transported from Istanbul Airport in 2022.

Qazet.az reports with reference to the Turkish press that the general manager of Istanbul Airport, Kadri Samsunlu, gave this information.

According to him, in the 11 months of 2022, 14 million 775 thousand 573 passengers used domestic flights, and 44 million 288 thousand 618 passengers used international flights: "A total of 59 million 64 thousand 191 people used Istanbul Airport in January-November."

K. Samsunlu said that at the end of the third year of its operation, Istanbul Airport was again the first in Europe in terms of passenger transportation: "We are very happy about it. We are leaving behind a very successful year, increasing our indicators for both cargo and passenger transportation. We are very hopeful for 2023 for both the tourism, logistics and transport sectors. Every new beginning is important, but 2023 is the year we start very positively and with hope."

K. Samsunlu said that 2021 ended with the transportation of 37 million passengers. We aim to transport more than 70 million passengers with the new airline companies starting to fly from Istanbul Airport.

He noted that the volume of cargo transported from Istanbul Airport is increasing every day: "In 11 months of 2022, 176 thousand 804 tons of cargo were transported on the domestic route, and 2 million 154 thousand 835 tons on the international route, with Istanbul Airport-based flights. During this period, a total of 2 million 331 thousand 639 tons of cargo was transported to different points at Istanbul Airport. It is expected that this number will exceed 2.5 million tons this year."
