Mubariz Gurbanli: "Azerbaijan has always demonstrated its tolerance towards all religions"
"Azerbaijan is a secular state and has always demonstrated its tolerance towards all religions."
According to Qazet.az report , the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Mubariz Gurbanli, said this during his speech at the conference on "Freedom of Conscience and Media" jointly organized by the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the Azerbaijan Press Council.
According to him, the Constitution of Azerbaijan does not specify which religion the country belongs to. The politicization of religion can lead to great disasters, and we can see many examples of this when we look at history. Azerbaijan has always been against them and has also created all conditions for people of all religions to perform their worship. In addition to mosques, churches and synagogues also operate in Azerbaijan.
M. Gurbanli said that the communities operating in the country receive financial assistance from the state every year: "This is a clear example of how much Azerbaijan respects multicultural values. Azerbaijan is part of the Muslim world, and 19 percent of the planet belongs to the Muslim world. A lot of work is being done to create unity and unity in Islam in the country. In this matter, the Administration of Caucasian Muslims has a special role."
"There are some opinions in the foreign press that Azerbaijan is a Shiite state. But this is a completely wrong approach. Because Azerbaijan is a state that promotes the harmony of religions and the unity of Islam," the Chairman of the Religious Committee emphasized.
