NATO defense ministers to discuss European security
The ministers will discuss the prevention of Russia, including the deployment of new forces on its borders, the situation around Ukraine
A meeting of the North Atlantic Council (NAC) at the level of Defense Ministers will take place at the NATO Headquarters on Wednesday 16 February and Thursday 17 February 2022, Qazet.az informs, citing foreign media.
The ministers will discuss the prevention of Russia, including the deployment of new forces on its borders, the situation around Ukraine, which the NATO Secretary-General described as the most serious security crisis in Europe in decades, as well as the US requirements to further increase the defense budgets of NATO members.
According to Alliance, the NATO members, except for the US, have increased the defense budgets by $270 billion since 2014.
Moreover, the ministers will meet with the Defense Ministers of Georgia and Ukraine and express support for the territorial integrity of these countries. The meeting will also focus on the democratic reforms and practical cooperation in both countries.
