Citing general data, he noted that there are 157 cases of diseases per 100,000 inhabitants in the country. "This is a new record," Attal said at a briefing on December 21.
"The situation in hospitals is tense, about 16,000 people are hospitalized, more than 3,000 people are in intensive care. We estimate that 10% of cases are associated with the omicron strain... In particular, in Paris, every third infection is associated with the omicron strain," he added.
