The omicron strain accounts for about 30% of new coronavirus cases in Paris, official representative of the French government Gabriel Attal said, Qazet.az informs referring to RIA Novosti.

Citing general data, he noted that there are 157 cases of diseases per 100,000 inhabitants in the country. "This is a new record," Attal said at a briefing on December 21.

"The situation in hospitals is tense, about 16,000 people are hospitalized, more than 3,000 people are in intensive care. We estimate that 10% of cases are associated with the omicron strain... In particular, in Paris, every third infection is associated with the omicron strain," he added.
