One person died after a small plane crashed near a major freeway in Los Angeles in the western U.S. state of California, authorities said, Qazet.az reports according to Xinhua.

The fixed wing aircraft went down around 12:30 PM local time on the 210 freeway embankment in Sylmar.

US officials said one person was confirmed dead in the aircraft, adding that the age and gender of the victim was still unknown at this time.

"After a thorough search of all void spaces in the aircraft, firefighters did not locate any other victims," said the fire department in an alert.
