Peskov: Russia's decision to resume participation in the grain deal does not mean Moscow's readiness to extend it
“Before extending the term of the “grain agreement”, Russia should assess the effectiveness of the implementation of the agreement.”
As Qazet.az reports with reference to TASS, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this in an interview with journalists.
Russia's decision to resume participation in the grain deal does not mean Moscow's readiness to extend it, the Russian side has yet to evaluate the implementation of the document.
Peskov stressed that there is still no decision to extend the agreement: “The resumption of Russia's participation in the agreement does not mean an extension of the term, this topic should be discussed officially. On October 19, the term of the agreement expires, and before making a decision to continue, of course, it will be necessary to give an overall assessment of the effectiveness of the transaction, an assessment of how all parties to the agreements were implemented, and then come to some decisions.”
He also added that in terms of resuming the deal, the main factor of confidence in the agreements is Turkey's participation. "The work that was carried out by Ankara and Turkish diplomats, the military, personally by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan deserves high praise," Peskov said.
