Poland began to receive Norwegian gas through a new pipeline

The pipeline is at the center of Poland's strategy to diversify gas supplies away from Russia, which began years before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

On October 1, Poland began to receive gas from the new Baltic Pipe pipeline from Norway through Denmark and the Baltic Sea.

This was announced by the Polish gas pipeline operator Gaz-System, writes Reuters.

It is noted that the new pipeline is at the center of Poland's strategy to diversify gas supplies away from Russia. Warsaw chose this direction many years before the February invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine provoked a global energy crisis in Europe.

According to Gaz-System, deliveries started this morning, and applications or requests for gas supply through the pipeline on October 1 amounted to 62.4 million kWh.

The pipeline itself has an annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters.
