"As the President of Kyrgyzstan emphasized, Heydar Aliyev is an outstanding personality who left a deep mark in history. He always defended the interests of Azerbaijan, regardless of his workplace and the form of social and political structure."

Qazet.az reports that this opinion was expressed by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the opening ceremony of the Heydar Aliyev School-Gymnasium No. 20 educational complex in Bishkek.

The head of state noted that Heydar Aliyev, when he was the leader of Azerbaijan during the Soviet era, took the republic from the last places in the former USSR to the ranks of the leaders in terms of socio-economic development indicators:

"At the same time, he defended the country's interests when he was the first deputy chairman of the USSR government, or when the people called him to save the young Azerbaijan Republic from bankruptcy, when he led the Azerbaijan state in the most difficult period."
