President Ilham Aliyev received the head of Dagestan - UPDATE
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the head of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation Sergey Malikov on December 6.

Qazet.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev said that the Republic of Azerbaijan has successfully cooperated with different regions of the Russian Federation, including the Republic of Dagestan, and said that this contributed to the development of Azerbaijan-Russia bilateral relations. At the same time, the head of state said that Azerbaijan-Russia relations have successfully developed in 2022. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of mutual visits and effective meetings in this regard, and also noted the importance of the next Azerbaijan-Russia Interregional Forum held recently.

The head of state stressed the existence of historical relations between our peoples for centuries and pointed out with satisfaction that these relations have strengthened in modern times. In this regard, President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that Sergey Malikov's visit to our country will contribute to the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Dagestan in specific directions.

Stating that our peoples have fraternal ties, Sergey Malikov noted with satisfaction that along with representatives of other nations, Azerbaijanis also live as a single family in Dagestan. He expressed confidence that the meetings to be held during his visit to our country will contribute to further expansion of cooperation.

According to the order of the President of Azerbaijan, the head of state presented the Order of Glory to Magomed Saidovich Gurbanov, adviser to the head of the Republic of Dagestan, for his effective activity in the development of friendly relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, including the peoples of Azerbaijan and Dagestan.

Then commemorative photos were taken.

Later, the President of Azerbaijan was presented with a sculpture of prominent statesman and public figure Aziz Aliyev, which was in his study.

It should be noted that Aziz Aliyev, during the leadership of Dagestan in 1942-1948, prevented the deportation planned for the people of Dagestan, like other Caucasian peoples. Therefore, on behalf of the elders of Dagestan, he was presented with a sculpture depicting a rider with a child in his arms. This work will be in the office of President Ilham Aliyev from now on.
