Rice harvest has ended in Azerbaijan
This year, the harvest of rice planted in 9 regions of Azerbaijan has ended, and 858 tons more than last year - 11,558 tons - were harvested from the fields.
Qazet.az reports according to"Report" informs about this with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to information, the total area of rice cultivation is 3,194 hectares. Most rice was planted in Lankaran (802 hectares), Agdash (681 hectares) and Ujar (678 hectares) regions.
This year, the average yield was 36.2 cents/hectare, which is 1.4 cents/hectare more than last year's final average yield.
According to the decision of the Agrarian Subsidy Council, 360 manats of planting subsidy is given to farmers for each hectare of paddy cultivated area.
This year, for the first time, the Agricultural Scientific-Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture started research works in the direction of creating, introducing, adapting to local conditions and organizing seed production of high-yielding, disease- and pest-resistant varieties of rice, and the "Rice Plant Selection and Cultivation Technology" department was established at the institute. Also, the necessary infrastructure has been created in the territory of Lankaran region for conducting research on rice selection and seed production.
From 2020, selection studies are being carried out in the Lankaran region according to the approved theme plan for rice selection for 2020-2024 at the Agricultural Research Institute. Every year in Lankaran, 1.0-1.5 hectares of land are planted with super-elite reproduction of the "Avangard" variety, and 2.5-3 tons of elite seeds are produced and given to regional farmers.
