Qazet.az reports that 180 conservative MPs supported him, and his only opponent, Penny Mordont, withdrew his candidacy because he could not even get 30 votes. As a result, R. Sunak was automatically elected the head of the British Conservative Party.

With this, the 42-year-old politician became the youngest Prime Minister in the last 200 years of British history.

It should be noted that R. Sunak, born in India, was born in Great Britain in 1980. He worked as a deputy minister under former Prime Minister Theresa May, and as finance minister under Boris Johnson.
