Russia records first case of new coronavirus stain Kraken

The first case of the d new subspecies of the omicron-strain Kraken was detected in Russiaəs Penza region, Qazet.az reports citing TASS. 

“The first case of infection with the omicron subvariant virus XBB.1.5 Kraken was recorded in the Penza region as part of the monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 genome sequencing data uploaded daily to the national VGARus database,” the agency said, citing RIA Novosti.
