Russian official pledges to support Tajikistan if situation on Afghan border flares up

The Taliban has no control over northern Afghanistan or the border with Tajikistan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told Interfax.

Qazet.az informs that, according to him, Russia was closely following the events in Afghanistan.

"In case of escalation on the Tajik-Afghan border, Russia will provide assistance to Tajikistan in a bilateral format and through the CSTO," he said.
