Samir Sharifov: We should be very careful about further increasing the state expenditures

Qazet.az reports that this was said by Finance Minister Samir Sharifov while responding to the proposals made at the joint meeting of the committees held in the parliament regarding the discussion of the draft law "On the 2023 state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
The minister noted that even though the budget revenues have increased, we have to finance the expenses: "Therefore, we should be very careful about increasing the expenses."
According to him, there has been an increase in the wages of all public sector workers.
Touching on the issue of increasing costs in another direction, S. Sharifov said that the issue of financing science is not new: "Yes, the specific weight of funds allocated to science in the GDP is not high. However, I think that this is also related to structural problems."
In the draft of the state budget next year, 228.5 million manats will be allocated for the financing of science. This is 23.5 million manats or 11.5% more than the current year, and 76.7 million manats or 50.5% more than the performance indicator of 2021.
It should be noted that in January-October of this year, the consumer price index in Azerbaijan increased by 113.7% compared to the same period last year, including 119.4% for food products, beverages and tobacco products, 107.9% for non-food products, to the population for paid services was 110.4%.
