Second round of local elections kicks off in Georgia

The second round of elections of mayors and members of the local advisory bodies (sakrebulo - local consultative bodies) have started in Georgia - polling stations opened at exactly 08:00 Tbilisi time.

According to the local bureau of Qazet.az, in total, Georgian voters will elect mayors of 20 cities and regions in the second round. As for the second round of the elections for local deputies, they are held in 42 districts of 24 cities.

For the second round, 1,830 polling stations are opened, as well as six polling stations in prisons, and 29 special polling stations are set up for voting by voters of Covid-19 centers, quarantine, and self-isolation zones.

There are 2,088,722 voters on the single voter list. The largest number of voters lives in Tbilisi – 1, 002, 900.

The elections are considered valid on any voter turnout.
