SOCAR planning to open representative office in Turkmenistan
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is planning to open a representative office in Turkmenistan, Emin Alakbarov, Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Department of SOCAR, said at the XXVII International Oil and Gas Conference (OGT-2022) held in Ashgabat, Qazet.az informs, citing the Turkmen press.
He noted that SOCAR is engaged in the exploration, development, production, transportation, and processing of oil and gas: “The company operates joint ventures, representative offices, and factories in several countries, as well as its own research and design institute.”
Alekbarov pointed out that currently, Azerbaijan is mainly engaged in the extraction of natural resources in its part of the Caspian Sea: “Drilling platforms are interconnected by piers, as on the Turkmenistan side. A pipeline network was also created to transit hydrocarbons from sea to land. With a business approach, countries can integrate them, which does not require large financial resources. In the future, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan may join the pipeline to supply their energy resources to foreign markets.”
The SOCAR employee also emphasized the importance of OGT-2022 in establishing political, economic, and cultural relations between the states. He added that business meetings are actively held in this international forum, which helps speed up the resolution of technical interaction issues.
