The President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, addressed a congratulatory letter to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Qazet.az reports that the text of the letter reads:

"Dear Mr. President.

I am honored to convey my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you on your birthday.

Over the past years, China-Azerbaijani relations have been developing continuously and steadily, and cooperation in various fields has been successfully and effectively expanded. At the successful meeting held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan in September of this year, important agreements were reached on the development of bilateral relations, strengthening of mutual activity in the international arena and deepening of cooperation within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.

I attach great importance to the development of China-Azerbaijani relations, and I am ready to work with you to help the sustainable, long-term development of friendly and cooperative relations for the welfare of our countries and peoples.
