"The difference in salaries of teachers of higher education institutions operating in Azerbaijan is a cause for concern."

Qazet.az reports with reference to the report that the member of the Milli Majlis, Jeyhun Mammadov, said this during his speech at today's session of the parliament.

According to him, salaries in some universities are 2-3 times higher, while in others they are lower.

The deputy said that one of the issues that cause concern is the small number of male teachers:

"Men are more inclined to the private sector. I believe that increasing salaries will increase interest in the teaching profession. Also, increasing the amount of student scholarships should be on the agenda."
