The EU representative asked the Iranian Foreign Minister to release those detained during the protests

Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Relations and Security Policy, had a telephone conversation with Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahiyan.

He said that Huseyin had discussions with Amir Abdullahiyan about the situation in Iran, including recent protests in the country.

The high representative of the EU said that during the phone call he asked for the violence against the demonstrators to be stopped and the detainees to be released: "The right to protest should be allowed to be exercised in Iran. We are considering all scenarios."

According to J. Borel, Huseyin also discussed issues of mutual cooperation with Amir Abdullahiyan.
