"Azerbaijan plans to double the supply of natural gas to Europe by 2027."

Qazet.az reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this at the commissioning ceremony of the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector (IGB) in Sofia.

According to the president, last year Azerbaijan exported approximately 19 billion cubic meters of natural gas, of which 8.2 billion cubic meters were transported to Europe, which is 40% more than the previous year.

"This year, our export will exceed 22 billion cubic meters, and 11.5 billion cubic meters of it will be shared by European consumers. As I mentioned, during the visit of Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen to Azerbaijan in July of this year, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Commission. This is a very comprehensive document. Based on this, we plan to double our supply of natural gas to Europe by 2027. We have every opportunity for this," the head of state said.
