The renewable energy potential of the liberated areas has been announced

The solar and wind energy potential of the liberated regions of Azerbaijan is approximately 10,000 MW.

Qazet.az reports according to former communications and high technologies minister, academician Ali Abbasov, director general of the ANAS Management Systems Institute (ISI) in a interview with Report.

According to A. Abbasov, this is more than the total demand of Azerbaijan:

"You know that there is Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 2620 of May 3, 2021 on measures to establish a "green energy" zone in the liberated territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, "green energy" zone in 2026.

According to this plan, our Institute will take an active role in measuring the potential of renewable energy resources in the liberated regions. This is a very important issue for our country,” he said.

According to him, today Azerbaijan's demand for renewable energy sources is 7,900-8,000 MW: "Therefore, all this needs to be planned. We have already been instructed to make mathematical calculations and model the existing potential with the help of a computer, which is the most suitable option. Let's do it."
